When we were on our mission, the basement flooded, and flooded, and flooded. Family and neighbors got everything out, but it just became a mess that I never wanted to walk downstairs. After using it as a 'catchall' room for a couple of years, we really wanted to have real room that we could actually walk through without wounding ourselves...seriously. This is what it turned out to be. We really like it a lot. It's nice to have the computer and office stuff away from the grandkids and out of sight. This picture is looking from the closet under the stairway. The door you see goes into the storage room. If you click on the picture and enlarge it, you will see our 'Earth's Edge' picture, still one of my favorites.
This is from the storage room doorway. Notice the beautiful cupboards. We went into Lowe's one day and they were discontinuing the hickory wood cupboards. We got a lot of great storage for a really good price. It went fast! Have to love the close outs that aren't advertised. The only thing not finished is the door that will close off the closet under the stairs.

It looks really good!
The downstairs looks great! Good job with all the construction; it paid off. I do want to see photos of the scary basement.....
