Home Improvement....Smith Style....

Our front steps had been decomposing long before we bought this property.

This is one side of the front corner.

The other corner. Pretty bad!

Adding a bit more sidewalk in front of where the door to the garage will be.

The center is leveled and tar paper is put on the cement we poured before so that we don't mess it up.

The finish work is always the killer, it takes hours and hours.

You have to go over and over and over the surface to get it the way you want it.

This is not a good picture of the finished steps, you can see all of the construction mess. The front steps look really, really nice.

This is the slab that was poured for the steps off the deck at the back. It's curved for the lawn mower to swing around.

This pour is on a bit of a slope, upwards, but it is nice to have it all tied in.

The floor is complete. It looks rough in the front for a reason. We did this so gravel could be put in with a deeper area at the front so that it won't move away from the floor.

The center beam is up. That was a job. We could have used a couple more people doing that. Stan and I earned a few bumps and bruises. Beams are really, really heavy!

Stan stubbed in a window.

Rafters going up. I'm quilting in the shop and taking pictures every once in awhile. Stan came and got me when he needed help...like putting the beams up and other two person jobs.

Stan went ahead and put OSB board on the rafters that were there. One vehicle can now be parked under, mine, so there is no frost on it in the morning. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

This the point we were at last night. Not bad for a week's work, Saturday to Saturday. The only days that were full work days were the two Saturdays, the rest was after Stan got home from work. He has done a great job. We are SOOO excited to get it all done. We will have place for all three vehicles to park. When Phillip gets back and Nicole moves in with him, Stan will make his shop along one side and the back. He will set up the back during the winter.

I was up nailing down tar paper. We knew that the rain was coming, so we were trying to finish the west side completely before it came. We didn't make it. Stan and I worked really hard and got all but one strip on the west side as the ran began. The rain let up later, so Stan set up lights and we put the last strip on after dark. We wet our pants really well! It was a great day's work.
