A saw in the hand equals..................

Our neighbor looked out his window yesterday and saw Stan with a saw in his hand. He said, "When Stan gets a saw in his hand 'something' is going to happen." This is what happened. In looking at what we might want to do to our bedroom when the closets were removed, we decided that a door would be nice. When we went looking for what might look good, we decided it had to be French doors with blinds inside the windows. We measured and Stan cut the inside dimensions.

Then it was time to take out the window and cut the siding away.

Stan now has another window for his shop in the big barn!

Tractors with buckets are a great 'de' construction tool!

Wow, that's a big hole. Stan also did this on the coldest day we'd had and....it snowed! Figures.

My shoulder hasn't been doing well, so there was no way I was gong to be able to help with the lifting. Stan called our good neighbor Jon, and he and Kathy came. Kathy and I were good cheerleaders and stayed out of the way!

They got it in, set a couple of screws, then Stan was on his own again.

It took a bit to square things up, shim it, and set it down tight, but it got done!

At the end of the day, when Stan was truly 'done', this is what it looked like! We will finish the walls and do some trim work, then our bedroom will be finished!!!!!! Next summer we are planning on building a small deck out that door (we need to do something, it's a 3 foot step down right now) so that we can watch our beautiful sunsets. Slowly but surely we are taking this old home and making it ours. That is a really good feeling.

Mom, how I would love to be helping with all the construction work around the place. The doors look good. Take care.

That looks good. Now you have a door to nowhere.
