Maple goin' down!

Richard came and the floor started going down. He has always wanted to put in a floor diagonally, and that was great with us. England liked it. She was dancing in the sunlight from the window.

Our house is so little, we had to move everything from one side to the other so he could get the work done. It was a lot of fun to watch Richard do the work. Some of it he had to do on his knees, and the long spans, what there was of them, he did standing up; kicking the pieces in with his left foot making them fit tight and pounding the stapler with his right arm.

.
After having watched Richard do all this hammering, I would hate to be on the receiving end of that fist! On the big floors that he puts in, he swings that hammer over 6,000 times an hour. They rack out enough wood that he does nothing but kick and hammer for a full two hours at a time! Anyone want an arm wrestle challenge?

This is the piece he was looking for!

Richard is doing a different job for the next week and a half. After that, he will come back and sand the floor with 3 different grits and put 4 finishes on. We will have to have the room completely empty while he is doing this and for a week after the last finish, so we will put the furniture in storage for awhile. It is a beautiful floor, we are so excited!

Looks like you know what you are doing. Very impressive work. Perhaps I will even find some time to go and see it one of these years. I can't wait to see the finished project.
